To Grow or Not to Grow: The Summer Beard Debate

Every summer, it happens.
“Isn’t your beard hot?”

Or the classic: “I’ll have to shave my beard off for summer.”

And despite the myth, a beard doesn’t work like a wool scarf in the heat. Instead, it helps regulate temperature by trapping sweat, which then evaporates and cools the skin. Add a breeze, and many beardsmen find their beard actually helps them feel cooler, not hotter.

There’s more good news. Longer days mean more sunlight and vitamin D – both linked to healthy hair growth. Some research even suggests testosterone levels (a key player in beard growth) can rise during warmer months.
